Freshman Admissions

A prospective freshman is someone who has not attended any institution of higher education following high school.


All students are required to submit the following items prior to the deadline date:

Do not submit additional documents unless specifically requested, as this may delay your decision.

*You can apply for a fee waiver in the application if you meet certain criteria. We do not send a notification of approval or denial of the fee waiver request. If the waiver is denied, you will receive a $75 bill from us. International students are not eligible for fee waivers.  

**The School Report or Counselor Recommendation must be submitted with an official high school transcript and received in our office by the deadline. For this reason, we strongly encourage counselors to submit the report and transcript electronically.

***Your SAT/ACT test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency and received in our office by our deadline. Rush paper scores are not accepted. Scores from tests taken in October will not arrive in time to complete the application for Early Action. If you have not yet had your scores reported, you can have them sent to us using these links:


The U-M School of Kinesiology accepts freshman applications for FALL semester only. Applications for the WINTER term are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Freshman applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in the fall of their senior year.

  • Early Action Deadline: November 1 (NOTE: All of the above materials must be received by the Nov. 1 deadline for your application to be considered for Early Action)
  • Rolling Admission: February 1

Admission Criteria

Freshman applicants are strongly advised to have completed the following:

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of mathematics
  • Three years of science
  • Three years of history and social sciences
  • Two years of foreign language

While there are no minimum requirements for admission, the following represents the middle 50th percentile range for students admitted to the U-M School of Kinesiology:

  • 3.7-3.9 GPA
  • 1860-2085 SAT
  • 28-31 ACT

Secondary Applications

Athletic Training and Sport Management require a secondary admission application prior to the sophomore or junior year.

Sport Management: Due February 1
