This course covers the professional skills necessary to be successful as a research scientist. Specific content will include writing and reviewing grant applications, writing and reviewing journal manuscripts, giving research presentations, applying for jobs, and assessing careers in and out of academia. Course grade will be based on several assignments such as making a research presentation, writing a grant proposal, reviewing a journal manuscript, and writing an application for faculty position.
