Description

The purpose of this course is for students to become proficient at conducting exercise tests and develop the skills to interpret physiological responses in apparently healthy adults. Students will evaluate various aspects of exercise testing, including muscular, balance, and cardiorespiratory fitness protocols used for assessments, in order to design individualized exercise programming. A central theme is for students to understand physiological exercise testing variables and the rationale for choosing specific exercise protocols. Principles of healthy hemodynamics, cardiorespiratory response, data interpretation, and fitness classification will be demonstrated using hands-on learning. The course comprises lecture, student discussion / presentation, and laboratory experience, with an emphasis on developing assessment skills.
