About
Dr. Farah Ammous is an assistant professor of applied exercise science and director of the KineOmics Lab at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology. She holds a PhD in epidemiological sciences from the University of Michigan, as well as an MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics and a BS in biology from the American University in Beirut. Following the completion of her PhD, Dr. Ammous was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan Department of Epidemiology and the Institute for Social Research Survey Research Center.
Dr. Ammous's research bridges population-based epidemiology with molecular approaches to examine how social environments and behaviors shape biological processes involved in chronic disease, with an emphasis on epigenetic regulation. She draws on rich longitudinal cohort studies, including nationally representative samples of older adults and multi-ethnic birth cohorts, to understand how physical activity patterns influence biological mechanisms of disease risk across the lifespan.
