Kristen Jakubowski, PhD

Kristen Jakubowski is an assistant professor of movement science at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology. Before her time at U-M, she was an NIH F32 postdoctoral fellow at Emory University and Georgia Tech, working with Mrs. Lena Ting and Gregory Sawicki. Kristen's research seeks to optimize locomotor performance and maintain musculoskeletal health across the lifespan by developing personalized rehabilitative exoskeletons that symbiotically integrate with an individual's neuromuscular system.

Kristen received a BS and MEng in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She completed her PhD in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University, supported by an NIH F31 fellowship, investigating how the nervous system varies the mechanics of the ankle across different tasks and how that control is impacted by healthy aging.
