Q: Out of everything you're working on right now, what are you most excited about and why?
A: It's hard to choose — I have learned so much in my first couple of weeks here. Although I haven't spent a lot of time working on our KidSport Summer Camps yet, I am excited to get working on them and to participate in the camps this summer. I was a teacher and a summer camp counselor for MANY years before joining Community Programs. Being able to be around and involved with the kids this summer will allow me to continue using my skills from previous careers.
Q: How do you balance your time between the demands of your work and personal life?
A: Work-life balance has been something I have had to focus on over the past few years. I have realized that, to be at my best, I need to have balance. A few years ago I declared Saturday as my "no work" day, even if it means that other days may require a little more work time. This has worked pretty well, and I hope it can continue!
Q: What's your favorite thing about our school and why?
A: Everyone I have met has been so kind and helpful! I truly appreciate all of the support I have been given and hope to reciprocate this to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
Q: What's one fun or surprising thing about you?
A: Sports have always been a large part of my life. I played basketball in middle and high school and worked as a scorekeeper for many athletic events while in high school. While in college at Eastern Michigan University, I was an equipment manager for the football team. Since 2015, I have been an event team member here at the University of Michigan, working mostly at the football and hockey games. Last but not least, my son, daughter-in-law, three friends, and myself have begun a tradition of traveling to at least one away football game each year. Penn State is on the docket for this fall. Go Blue!
Q: If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would it be and why?
A: I have always had two "dream vacations," Hawaii and an African safari experience. I was fortunate to have visited Hawaii on a family vacation in 2016 but would love to go back. If I were told today that I had won a trip to anywhere I would choose to have an African safari experience. To see so many animals and to be so close to them in their natural habitat would be a dream come true!
