Jay Basten, PhD

About

Dr. Jay Basten is a Sport Management lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology. Prior to his time at the school, Dr. Basten was assistant director of admissions for the U-M Office of Undergraduate Admissions. He received his PhD from the University of Michigan School of Education.

Dr. Basten's research has appeared in journals such as the Review of Higher Education and the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. His research focuses on understanding how and why people identify with sport teams and sport-related consumer product companies, and the effects of identification on individual and organizational behavior. Dr. Basten also studies intercollegiate athletic policy-making in the context of academic integrity.
