About
Dr. Harjiv Singh is a lecturer I at the University of Michigan Human Performance & Sport Science Center (HPSSC) and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology.
Dr. Singh is currently a senior performance and development scientist with the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). He previously served in a similar capacity with the Orlando Magic (NBA). He was also appointed as the director of performance science for the Grand Rapids Rise in their inaugural season in the Pro Volleyball Federation.
Dr. Singh received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Rutgers University, and a master’s degree in motor control and learning from Columbia University. After playing volleyball briefly overseas, he continued to pursue his research interests by completing a PhD in motor control and learning from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
Dr. Singh researches how different practice variables like attention and motivation affect movement variability as they relate to skill development and expertise. He also investigates practical strategies that can be used to augment current injury prevention and rehabilitation interventions.
Dr. Singh serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Motor Learning and Development and is an associate editor for Research Quarterly in Exercise and Sport.
