Center for Sport & Policy

The Center for Sport & Policy consults and works with various teams to leverage and utilize the building of a facility to generate substantial and positive effects for the surrounding city and the citizens that reside near the venue. It is through this work that we hope to change the societal perceptions that exist today in relation to sports facilities as a vehicle for growth and an opportunity to improve the fiscal footprint on the surrounding environment.

The idea that a venue that attracts a million or more visits each year can change the location of economic activity within a region and anchor enhanced development is rooted in the work of urban economists and the founding principles of economics. The value of a revitalized urban neighborhood anchored by the large number of visitors to a sports venue lies in capturing for the public sector the taxes generated by the relocation of economic activity.
