Stephanie Palmer
Q: Out of everything you're working on right now, what are you most excited about and why?
A: My postdoctoral research focuses on understanding adapting movement interventions for the family context. I'm especially excited to learn from parents about their perspectives on home-based movement programs and how to create high-quality movement experiences for families.
Q: What's the most meaningful or satisfying aspect of your work?
A: It’s a true joy to help people develop the knowledge and skills that empower them to live healthy, active lives. The most satisfying aspect of my career (so far) has been helping children become skillful, confident movers.
Q: Who are the special people in your life?
A: My family! I have six siblings, 13 nieces and nephews, four cats, and two dogs — one of whom is specifically mine, but he stays with my family in southern Illinois, where he enjoys the freedom of never, ever having to be on a leash.
Q: What's a fun or surprising thing about you?
A: In the past two years, I've flown over 100 times. I know the flight schedules for most Midwestern routes across all major airlines, the best dates and times to score great ticket deals, and even the different flight paths for landing in Detroit — including how and why they change based on the weather.
I also play soccer for Ann Arbor AFC and I'm an avid Olympic weightlifter, a skill I inherited from my dad, who was a professional in the sport!
