Teach Out: Free Speech in Sport

teach out: free speech in sports

The School of Kinesiology is offering a its first "teach out," through Coursera: Free Speech in Sport. 

From the Coursera description:

"This Teach-Out is for anyone interested in exploring and understanding the relationships between sport, society, and “speech.” While athletes, coaches, and fans may have particular insights on this topic, anyone with interest is invited to participate. No prior knowledge of the topic is required and engagement with the discussion forums is encouraged."

Ketra Armstrong, professor of sport management, will co-produce and deliver a "Free Speech in Sports" Teach-Out as a part of U-M's university-wide series on speech and inclusion. Armstrong's free online Teach-Out will feature discussions with various U-M faculty, staff, and students. Among the contributors will be sport management faculty Mark Rosentraub and Dae Hee Kwak.

The course can be taken online and will take most people 2-4 hours to complete. Course ends 11:59pm PDT/ Sunday, April 22 (2:59am EDT/April 23). There is no fee.
