School of Kinesiology co-sponsors student-run Michigan Sport Business Conference


The School of Kinesiology is proud to co-sponsor the Michigan Sport Business Conference, one of the most successful student-run events in the country. Led by students in the School of Kinesiology sport management program, Ross School of Business, and others, MSBC has drawn hundreds of professionals from the biggest companies in sport management, media, and entertainment since its inception in 2012.

This year's conference on October 6 has a technology focus. Executives from Twitter, Gatorade, and the NFL will lead a session on “connecting with the digital consumer.” Another session focuses on using technology to optimize athlete performance. Vicente Fernandez, who created the mobile app SportsManias, which provides real-time, personalized sports updates, will be part of a panel discussion on career management. The first-ever Tech Showcase will feature several companies whose products are dramatically changing how sports are played by professionals and enjoyed by fans.

Conference sessions will also cover other relevant topics: Venture capital in sports; building a business in today’s complex cross-section between sport, entertainment, and media; and managing a business career in the sports industry. The morning keynote speakers are Steve Greenberg, managing director of Allen & Company, and Arn Tellem, vice chairman of Palace Sports & Entertainment.
