Program Studies Sport, Culture in Rio

Rio de Janeiro welcomed 17 Kinesiology students this month as part of a summer study program focused on health, wellness and sport in Brazil. Why Brazil? Mainly due to the rapid growth in education and research, coupled with the choice of Rio de Janeiro as the venue for the World Cup 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.

Over the course of the program, students will get to experience different international aspects of sport management and movement science in action. They will visit sports training facilities, the National Football Museum, watch a game of professional football (soccer, to Americans) in the famous Maracana Stadium, and hold meetings with nonprofit organizations that provide guidance and access to sports for children from low-income communities in Rio de Janeiro.

Be part of the action as it unfolds in real time and follow the group's tumblr page,
