New Major Launched: Applied Exercise Science
To better prepare students for careers assessing and promoting physical fitness throughout the lifespan, the single-track Health and Fitness major has been converted into the dual-track AES major.
AES graduates will work directly with athletes, patients, clients, and fellow industry professionals (doctors, nutritionists, etc.). Students would likely pursue a minor or advanced degree in public health, entrepreneurship, or business.
Students already enrolled as Health and Fitness majors will receive counseling regarding their options -- they can remain in HF and follow its curriculum plan until they graduate, or they can switch to the AES major. The School of Kinesiology will no longer enroll new HF majors.
Non-Kines U-M students are invited to learn more about the AES major at one of the cross-campus transfer info sessions we will offer between now and January. The first one is Friday, November 9, at 2:00pm. Others will be announced as soon as dates are finalized.
