Lasso-ing Chelsea FC? Why super-rich US sports owners are looking to buy a London soccer team

SM faculty member Stefan Szymanski examines why American sports franchise owners are so quick to purchase English Premier Soccer clubs.

Stefan Szymanski, professor of Sport Management, explains in The Conversation editorial, “Lasso-ing Chelsea FC? Why super-rich US sports owners are looking to buy a London soccer team,” the reasons why American sport franchise owners are looking to purchase English Premier League club Chelsea. According to Szymanski, the interest lies in the fact the English Premier League, already the best soccer league on the planet, has the potential to become the dominant league across all sports. And with that, comes the potential for serious revenue.
