Black female athletes eager to show off their hairstyles during the Olympics

American athletes ranging from runners Sha'Carri Richardson and Brittany Brown to water polo player Ashleigh Johnson can't wait until the Olympic Games in Paris. For all of these Black female stars, competing is a chance to show off not only their athletic prowess but also their hair, after a long history of discrimination against their tresses.

For NBC News, Center for Race & Ethnicity in Sport director Ketra Armstrong weighs in on the movement of Black female athletes to wear their hair proudly.
