Tell us about what you have done since you graduated.
Attended graduate school at Michigan State University while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer (wrestling and football) and as a graduate student instructor (First Aid and Personal Safety). I also completed an internship with Florida State University football. I returned to the University of Michigan in 2015 as a staff athletic trainer for the football program.
Tell us a bit about your experience in the Athletic Training program.
As an Athletic Training student, balancing the didactic classroom learning and hands-on clinical experiences was a uniquely challenging and exciting learning experience. Professors across all degree pathways offered unique perspectives and insights into forming the athletic trainer I am today. Whether it was motor control, biomechanics, exercise physiology, or sports psychology, all Kinesiology classes challenged me to think outside the box and become a well-rounded kinesiology professional and athletic training clinician.

In your opinion, what’s the best part about the program?
The best part of the athletic training program is the exposure to study beside and along with other specialties. Sharing classrooms, projects, and labs with Movement Science, Sport Management, & other specialties drove unique problem-solving and insightful dialogues about how to diagnose complex issues, collaborate, and work interprofessionally.
What would you like prospective students to know about the program?
I would like prospective students to know about all the wonderful possibilities the School of Kinesiology offers. There are many non-traditional career pathways that offer incredible experiences and job satisfaction. A degree in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan unlocks a unique world where you can leave your mark in many different career avenues.
How has your Kinesiology degree contributed to your success?
My kinesiology degree has opened numerous doors and connected me to a vast network of kinesiology professionals all over the world. The prestigious School of Kinesiology & faculty fostered a creative academic environment combined with its highly sought after clinical experiences. This allowed for a unique undergraduate learning experience that drove professional career aspirations.
