Quality of care is one of the cornerstones of our mission at Arbor Hospice – a mission that could not be accomplished without the many helping hands of our volunteers. We are seeking volunteers throughout Ann Arbor and surrounding areas, to visit hospice patients throughout the community. Visits take place in patients' own homes, as well as nursing homes, assisted living, memory care, group homes, hospitals, and more. Volunteers are asked to provide companionship to our patients, which can include reading to them, looking through magazines or cookbooks, watching movies or sports, playing music, visiting with a pet, or simply chatting and holding a hand.
Volunteers with availability during weekday mornings and afternoons are needed most, and we ask that our volunteers make at least a one year commitment to our organization. All volunteers must attend an orientation class, and undergo background checks and fingerprinting. Lastly, it is essential that volunteers have their own reliable transportation.
