About this event
NEW DATE -- NOW 12/10.
Our work impacts our health and our health impacts our work. We all know that feeling of getting through the day on extra caffeine after losing a night’s sleep. The impact can be as minor as reduced productivity or as significant as a medical error.
Increasingly, employers are prioritizing a holistic view of health and wellbeing in the workplace. Safety, productivity, and healthcare costs are all linked to both emotional and physical health. More than that, wellbeing initiatives are a core component of organizations’ strategies to attract and retain talent, remediate health issues prevalent in an aging workforce, and improve the overall culture at the workplace.
Dr. Marzec presents on how employers are leveraging gamification, behavior economics, environmental cues, personal coaching, fitness training, and social support to improve employee health. However, the differentiator between good wellness initiatives and truly successful ones is having a culture that supports health. And culture change can start with just one person. Her talk includes ideas anyone use, not just to improve their own wellbeing, but to help others as well.
Dr. Marzec, a senior research scientist at Virgin Pulse, led development of a tool to measure cultural support for health in the workplace. She has worked with over 50 organizations to measure and create “cultures of health.”
Lunch will be provided.
