“I want to help athletes get back to the sport they love and help them realize that an injury does not have to ruin their collegiate careers.”
Sara -- Athletic Training '10
Des Plaines, IL

Sara plans on attending graduate school for Athletic Training or Physical Therapy.

What inspired you to study Athletic Training?
I was an athlete in high school, but I sat out due to injuries more than I actually played. My high school athletic trainers helped me get back to my sport as quickly as possible and I was very appreciative of that. I want to help athletes get back to the sport they love and help them realize that an injury does not have to ruin their collegiate careers.

What are your future career plans?
I definitely plan on attending graduate school. At this point, however, I'm undecided if I want to get a Master's degree in Athletic Training or attend Physical Therapy school.

Since you just started at Michigan a year ago, what advice would you give to a high school student?
If you decide to come to Michigan, be prepared for many new experiences that will change your life—in a good way, of course! Even though Kinesiology is a small school, it doesn't feel restricting. Being in Kinesiology has opened up many opportunities for me.
