“I feel that my instructors and the PE Chair actually know who I am and personally care about my success.”

Megan -- Physical Education, ’11
Clarkston, MI

Megan plans to teach and coach Physical Education at the Junior High Level.

Why did you choose to study Physical Education at U-M?
Because not only does it line up with my career interests and aspirations, but the program is also small and very supportive. I feel that my instructors and the Physical Education Chair actually know who I am and personally care about my success. This support is vital to getting the most out of my college experience.

What are your future career plans?
I plan to teach and coach at the Junior High level. Eventually, I would like to get more involved in the advocacy of Physical Education and its importance in battling the childhood obesity epidemic.

What extra-curricular activities are you involved in?
I have been involved in a number of activities. I will be returning this year for my second year as a Kinesiology Peer Mentor. I am also a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. I have served on the Planning Committee for U-M Relay for Life as well as the Activity Director for the Pre-Physician Assistant Club. I also served as a Peer Mentor for the Women In Science and Engineering Residential Program (WISE-RP) and have been involved in K-grams (a pen pal program between U-M and local elementary school students).
