How has Kinesiology prepared you?
Kinesiology has prepared me for physical therapy school with a really well rounded curriculum. By taking classes in Anatomy, Speech, Sports in Society, First Aid, and many others, I feel like I have become knowledgeable in several different, useful fields. Kinesiology is also a great resource for internships and extra-curricular activities available throughout the entire year. How are you involved with research at U of M?
I worked in Dean Ulrich’s Motor Development Laboratory for a year. The project that I worked on focused on pre-mature infants and infants born with Spina Bifida from ages 2 months to 10 months. We observed the infants’ stepping movements on treadmills in order to understand spinal cord lesions and environmental factors on the development of motor skills. |
