Hear from Current Kinesiology Students
Here are a few words from current Kinesiology students:
“Kinesiology at U of M has allowed for me to learn the foundations for a career in the health field. I will always look back at my time in Kinesiology as a major stepping stone in my future career.”

“The hands-on experience you get in the Athletic Training program is priceless; you can read about injuries or taping techniques in a book but working with the athletes is what really makes you understand them.”

“Kinesiology prepared me for my internship with the Detroit Lions. As an Intern, I had to understand the complexity and corporate aspect of a professional sports franchise. You have to leave the fan inside of you at home and focus not only on wins and losses but financial gains and losses. The SM 101 course and public speaking in general is an underrated aspect of the professional world. You have to be able to effectively communicate your ideas which can be intimidating but is a necessity.”

“Kinesiology allows me to go pre-med while incorporating sports into the discussions and examples. I also really appreciate the faculty and how helpful they are, always willing to give their time. I am currently a personal fitness trainer and group exercise instructor. Kinesiology allows me to keep up with the education that I need every day at my job, not to mention it is a huge help on my re-certification exams and Continuing Education credits that I have to obtain routinely.”

“… (studying) Kinesiology is a unique opportunity. The size of the school enables students to get to know their professors and for them to be a face, a person, not just a number on paper. Kinesiology is the place to be.”

“My experience with Kinesiology has been like being in a family. The Office of Student Services staff and faculty are great role models like parents, the other students are supportive like brothers and sisters…”

“Kinesiology has provided a great way for me to really focus on my particular interests as a student. I like how the classrooms are very personal and interactive with my professors and fellow peers. It has been a great way to learn while making friends at the same time.”
