Hear from Kinesiology Alumni
Here are a few words from recent Kinesiology graduates:
“Deciding to major in Sport Management was one of the best decisions I have made. This degree program taught me essential tools necessary to pursue a career in the sport industry. Now I am off to work for the Palace Sports & Entertainment (Detroit Pistons), a job I never would have been prepared for had I not done my Undergraduate course work in U-M's Division of Kinesiology.”

“The professors in Physical Education are the most energetic professors I've had at Michigan. They love what they do and take the time to get to know each student individually. They all take so much pride in their work and do whatever they can to make their students' experiences one of a kind.”

"Kinesiology has helped me network with professors and advisors that opened doors for me that I never thought would be possible. The Athletic Training Education Program includes the nation’s top athletic trainers and professors, preparing me to be a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Stanford University."

“I believe the Movement Science program in Kinesiology has prepared me for a Chiropractic graduate school by challenging me and creating an environment that breeds success. The various professors I have had allowed me to become a better overall student through their teaching techniques and exercises. I have been able to learn about the aspects of the body from different perspectives (physiologically, anatomically, motor, biomechanically) and these numerous areas have helped me to understand the challenges of the human body.”

“My interest in a career in health care management caused me to think that a degree in Sport Management wasn't right for me. But after discussing my goals with several faculty members and students, I realized that Sport Management wasn't just about business principles involving sports, but also health care, recreation, and general health and fitness. I also realized that through the targeted selection of elective classes along with the strong core of required classes, a degree in Sport Management would equip me with the people skills, business knowledge, and management skills to be successful in nearly any area of business and/or management.”

“Kinesiology has given me an all around knowledge of what the body does, why it does it, and how it does it. The Movement Science program enabled me to explore different realms of the human body. I am hoping to go into the medical field so I feel like I have a head start on people who were not in this program. The first few years of medical school have a lot of anatomy and physiology. Therefore, I will already be familiar with some of the medical terminology because of the Movement Science program.”

“With over two hundred majors to choose from and over 900 student organizations at the University of Michigan, it's easy to feel lost among such a large crowd. When I made the decision to pursue a degree from the Division of Kinesiology, I felt like I had finally found my place on such a huge campus. Smaller class sizes, approachable faculty members and passionate students, combine to create the unique environment that is "Kines". My time at the University of Michigan was well spent because of the people in Kinesiology who have influenced my life.”
