Prospective Graduate Students


The School welcomes applications from students of all academic programs and disciplines.

Admission decisions are made by the School's Graduate Committee throughout the year; however, early applications are encouraged, and must be received by January 15 to be considered fully for assistantships and fellowships. Please note: Applications received after May 1 will not receive consideration until the following year.

Applications are processed through the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, and paperwork must be filed with both Rackham and the School of Kinesiology. For specifics, please refer to the Application Checklists.

Kinesiology Graduate Programs:

New for Fall 2010: Doctoral Fellowship Opportunity

The School of Kinesiology is pleased to announce a competition for a fellowship for individuals interested in pursuing a doctoral degree focused on sport management and economics. The position will provide the successful candidate with a research assistantship. At an appropriate time there may also be an opportunity to teach in the School's undergraduate sport management program. The award can provide up to four years of tuition, stipend support and health care benefits. Annual renewal is based on successful progress in the doctoral program and acceptable performance as a research assistant.

To compete for this award a student must be accepted into the doctoral program offered by the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Instructions regarding the submission of applications for the doctoral program are available on on our Applying page. Potential candidates interested in more information regarding the fellowship and the expected research are invited to contact Professor Mark S. Rosentraub (msrosen@umich.edu).
