Events for Parents to Explore Kinesiology
Parent Orientation

The Office of New Student Programs (ONSP) conducts summer orientation sessions for new freshmen and parents. The program offers parents the opportunity to learn about resources that can assist them and their student in acclimating to college life. The first part of the program is conducted by ONSP; the second part takes place within Kinesiology. The OSS staff will answer any questions parents have about our curriculum and services and put their minds at ease about the upcoming changes in their student’s life.

Campus Days
Campus Days occur during the winter semester. Students admitted for the next fall term and their parents are invited to attend this full day program. Students and parents will hear from Kinesiology faculty about the four majors and from the OSS staff about student services. The program ends with a mingle session during which guests can speak with the Dean of Kinesiology, the faculty, staff and current students.

Parents Weekend
Parents Weekend happens in the fall of each academic year on a home football weekend. Parents of current students are invited to visit their U of M student, take part in activities across campus, and are able to purchase tickets to Saturday’s game. Kinesiology parents are invited to join the Dean, faculty, and staff on Friday afternoon to hear from faculty members about our degree programs and life in Kinesiology, followed by an informal reception and opportunities to chat with the Dean, faculty, and staff. This program is a great opportunity for you to hear what is happening in Kinesiology!
The next Parents Weekend is next fall. Details will be announced in late summer or September.

Commencement
Kinesiology Commencement offers students the opportunity to celebrate graduation with their families, Kinesiology peers, faculty and OSS staff. The ceremony takes place in Hill Auditorium where each student walks across the stage as his/her name is read. Immediately following the ceremony Kinesiology hosts a reception at the Michigan League Ballroom for families and guests. In addition to Kinesiology Commencement exercises, a student can (and should) choose to take place in the University-wide Commencement.
For the dates of these and other events, please visit our events section or the calendar pages of the U-M Registrar's site.
