The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan provides small school comfort while being at a world renowned research institution. There is an annual picnic at the beginning of the semester and multiple events throughout the year where students and faculty can interact in a social setting. The School of Kinesiology also offers several travel awards, both national and international, so that doctoral students may attend multiple conferences a year. These conferences allow for greater opportunities to present your work, build collaborations, and be exposed to novel research in your field.
