U-M MHIRT (Minority Health & Health Disparities International Research Training) program for summer 2008. Deadline: November 1. MHIRT fellowships are fully-funded research projects related to child health inequalities in Chile, China, Jamaica, Ghana or South Africa. Applicants must have demonstrated professional commitment to working to reduce health disparities, or be a member of a population impacted by health disparities, such as Native American or African American. MHIRT is administered by the Center for Human Growth and Development and draws from the expertise of its interdisciplinary faculty, including Dean and Professor Beverly Ulrich and Professor of Movement Science Rosa Angulo-Barroso. Dr. Angulo-Barroso serves as a mentor for the MHIRT program for projects located in China, Chile and Ghana. Faculty mentors from many disciplines, including Kinesiology, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Chinese Studies, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Pediatrics & Communicable Diseases are available.
