How did you find this program?
U-M Office of International Programs
Courses taken:
French Phonetics; French Society, Language, and Culture; The History of France; Contemporary Art History; Modern Art History; Intensive Program French courses.
Would you recommend this program?
Yes. The program is very well structured and offers a lot for students interested in learning French. It is made up of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana students, so you are able to meet a lot of great new people from other schools as well.
Advice:
There is so much you will learn only after being in the country and experiencing it yourself; but I would have to say, plan on spending a lot of money. Little things add up and transaction fees and exchange rates are killer.
Fluency required?
Yes, it was very helpful.
Will this help you in your profession?
I have been taking French for about 8 years now and it obviously helped me here because I'm fluent and have immersed myself in the language and culture. I think it's character-building to go abroad and have to be independent in a foreign situation.
Comments:
Live it up! You will experience amazing things and changes within yourself and it's so important to slow down and live every moment, because experiences like this don't happen often.
