Kin-Help
Kin-Help Contact Information
For prompt assistance please submit non-urgent requests for Kin-Help assistance to kinhelp@umich.edu. The request goes into a mailbox that all Kin-Help staff can access, and receipt of your request will be acknowledged.
The best way to reach Kin-Help for an urgent request is to call the general line at 4-4015. Using the general line better assures you of reaching one of the Kin-Help staff.

Software Available for Installation
Through our agreement with LS&A, we have access to a wide range of software. Check their list by selecting the icon of the operating system you're using (for most of us, that's Windows). If you see something you want, please email Kin-Help with the title and version and we'll order it. We may already have the installation media on-hand, so please do not order anything yourself.

Set or Reset Your Kinesiology Password
To set or reset your password to access the Kinesiology network, follow these steps:
- Go to the U-M password change page and login with your Kerberos (U-M) password.
- You will then see three tabs — the last one: Windows Active Directory, should be active. This is the one you want. The Kinesiology network is based on Windows Active Directory, so that's why you need to use this tab.
- Type in your password, following these requirements:
- at least 7 characters long
- contain three of the following items: a lower case letter, an upper case letter, a number, and a non-alphanumeric character (i.e., ! @ ~ and $).
- Do not use your name, uniqname, part or all of your birthdate, social security or UM i.d. numbers, or your mother's maiden name.
We recommend that people use the same password for UM/Kerberos that they do for KIN/Windows Active Directory. If they're different, you can reset your U-M/Kerberos by clicking on the first tab, KPASSWD and following instructions.

If you plan to take the borrowed item(s) to an off-campus location, you'll need to submit a Request for Removal and Use of University Property Form. Use this interactive form, completing only the highlighted fields, or complete a paper one when you pick up your item from Kin-Help.

Slide and transparency projectors (and replacement bulbs) and TV/VCR carts can be reserved through one of the faculty support staff. Please contact Debbi Carmody (Observatory Lodge) or Leona Cranford (CCRB). They also stock toner and ink cartridges for the printers.
