Congratulations! You're Graduating!

You have the option of two commencement ceremonies in the spring, Rackham’s and Kinesiology’s, and you can participate in one or both . Rackham's ceremony tends to be more formal in tone, while the Kinesiology one is more personal. The Rackham ceremony is Friday, April 25, at 1pm (Kinesiology's is at 8pm; more info below). Tickets are NOT required for Kinesiology, but they ARE required for Rackham’s ceremony. More information about Rackham’s ceremony.

If you plan to graduate, you must complete a blue diploma application a.k.a. “blue card” during the term you will be finished completely with your degree requirements. This blue card is available in the Office of Student Services, 1128 Observatory Lodge, and Eileen Brussolo, 3146 Observatory Lodge.

It must be submitted to Eileen Brussolo three weeks into the term that you are planning to graduate. If you are finishing your degree requirements in December, May or August and want to participate in Kinesiology’s ceremony, please sign up with Eileen Brussolo.

  • Invitations will be sent to the local and permanent addresses you have listed on Wolverine Access and the U-M Directory. Please update those listings asap.
  • If you need invitations sent to parents living at different addresses please let Linda Burger (OSS front desk or linbur@umich.edu) know.
Quick facts about Kinesiology’s spring commencement ceremony:

Date: Friday, April 25, 2008
Time: 8:00pm. Please note: students must report for gowning at the Michigan League Ballroom no later than 7:00pm.
Place: Hill Auditorium.
Tickets: not necessary for Kinesiology Commencement.

If you're dining at a restaurant before the Kinesiology ceremony, be sure to make your dinner reservations well in advance and allow plenty of time to eat; also, plan extra time for getting around town and parking since it is one of the busiest nights of the year in Ann Arbor.

The blue cards are ONLY good for one term, so if you filled out a blue card this term and you do not complete your course requirements, you can still walk in Commencement, but you must complete another blue card during the term you complete your degree requirements.
