“There is a difference in the Division of Kinesiology compared to the other schools on campus. My favorite difference was that there was a sense of family with the program...from fellow students to faculty. In my private practice, I see a fair number of TMJ patients and I use the principles of biomechanics, motor control and movement science to treat these patients. I still have the teaching bug which motivates me to stay on as housestaff at the hospital I did my residency at. These magnificent blossoms of my professional life had their starts as seeds planted deep down in class time in Kinesiology. Let me tell you, its been a great ride so far.”

“Whenever I talk about my career in sports, I always mention my college experience first. I brag about U-M (don't we all?!) and what I learned both in and out of the classroom. U-M is such a large school both in size and opportunity. But, I loved being a part of Kines because it is smaller and more targeted. It's the best of both worlds! Became like a family for me.
“The U-M Kines staff and my advisors taught me the importance of getting an internship. They knew that hands-on job experience is the best way to get your career started. And, they were absolutely right! Now, I tell students the same thing.”

“The Sport Management major at Michigan did an excellent job of teaching real-world examples and how to apply techniques we learned at the University in everyday sports careers.”

“The lessons learned, the relationships with the teaching and support staff along with my lifelong friendships with classmates has strongly influenced my career. I am very proud to say that I have been teaching Physical Education for 15 years and even prouder to say that I received my degree from the University of Michigan.”

“Sports is so much more than bats and balls. It's big business, and only getting bigger. The Kinesiology/Sport Management department at U of M gave me the fundamental sports business background I needed to embark on a career in sports. Moreover, the concentration on sports management helped me think about the sports industry in a completely new way--not as just a fan, but as a businessman with a competitive advantage.”

Seth Ader ‘94
Sport Management
Senior Director, Marketing
ESPN

“In Kinesiology at U of M, I love the big college feel with the smaller intimate more hands-on education. I have been able to develop personal and professional relationships with faculty and staff because classes were small enough. I believe that participation as a alumnus can be easy. You can play an active role and really make a difference.”
