Freshman Admissions

A prospective freshman is someone who has not attended any institution of higher education following high school.


Freshman applicants must complete and submit the following:

  • The Common Application, University of Michigan Member Questions, and $75 application fee (or fee waiver request, located in the Common Application)
  • Official high school transcript (if you have taken courses at a non-U.S. high school, an official English translation is required to accompany the non-English language transcript)
  • Secondary school report
  • One teacher evaluation from a core academic teacher
  • ACT with writing or SAT (if taken as high school student -- otherwise, not required)
  • TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS scores (for non-native speakers of English)


The U-M School of Kinesiology accepts freshman applications for FALL semester only. Applications for the WINTER term are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Freshman applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in the fall of their senior year.

  • Early Action Deadline: November 1
  • Rolling Admission: February 1

Admission Criteria

Freshman applicants are strongly advised to have completed the following:

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of mathematics
  • Three years of science
  • Three years of history and social sciences
  • Two years of foreign language

While there are no minimum requirements for admission, the following represents the middle 50th percentile range for students admitted to the U-M School of Kinesiology:

  • 3.7-3.9 GPA
  • 1860-2085 SAT
  • 28-31 ACT

Secondary Applications

Athletic Training and Sport Management require a secondary admission application prior to the sophomore or junior year.

Athletic Training: Due April 1

Sport Management: Due February 1
